Soulful House Vol. 9 - Soulful Jazzhouse Session

Here in Germany we call the time from Christmas until new year the time "between the years". It has always been a time to relax and do some things you usually don't have time for.

Being in that mood i did a mix that is very soulful and jazzy as well - just right for this time. The first half features some great soulful house tracks where smooth vocals and jazz parts are in perfect harmony.

The second half of the mix goes deeper with some amazing Jazz House tracks and stunning piano riffs. Make sure you check this out!

It's Christmas time now in many countries all over the world - so i got something special here for you: a Christmas Disco Mix!

I'm sure, this is not what you could have in mind when you're reading this, but check this mix out, it's a perfect fusion of Disco and Christmas Music.

I kept this mix short, because you can't take much of it - more than half an hour and it starts to get annoying :-D

Soulful House Vol. 8 - Swingin' Chicago House

I am so glad that a new style is gaining more and more popularity: The Chicago Sound, a mixture of Jazz, Blues and Swing is being recreated and mixed up with jackin' House Beats.

You sure know some of these old tunes that were played when gramophones - imagine a 1210 just with unsteady single speed but with build-in speaker limited to 11 KHz sound - were modern.
So this sound really works great combined with House and there've been so many great tunes released in the last time that i decided to put them (and some older ones) together into a mix.

Some of this tunes are already my alltime fav's and i play them whenever i can, thats a style i really love. Guys, check it out. Swing is the new Funk!

Revisited House Chapter 6 - House Classics 1994 - 1996

It seems that House Classics are getting popular again. Recently i've heared many old tracks being played in different radio shows.
You can hear samples of these Classics in many new released songs and many Classics are put together and re-issued on compilations nowadays.

Well so i went through my collection and picked some of the most impressive songs from 1994 to 1996.
This was the time when House Music really got me and also gained popularity. You could see more House tracks played on video stations than today.

It's still hard to find some of these tracks, glad i had many of them already, but eBay is your friend, as long as they aren't buyable in digital form yet.
I know there are still some crackers missings like Daft Punk or Funky Green Dogs, they'll appear in the next mix for sure.

So enjoy this trip back in the days when music was happy and made you happy!

Soulful House Vol. 7 - Uplifting Soulful House

I know it has been a while since my last Soulful House Mix - sorry for that - but as stated before, from now on you can expect two per month.
Well, i promise you this mix is the real deal, i've got some excellent uplifting Soulful House tunes here for you!

Many many great tracks this time, i really love DJ Kulbir's new interpretation of Norman Connors track from 1977. Also a massive stomper for me is Dario Dattis with the great Freda Goodlett on the vocals of Enjoy Yourself.
DJ Spen & The MuthaFunkaz did a wonderful uplifting mix of Chieko Kinbara's Changed My Life, this is Gospel House at its best!
Michael Procter's track Angel is still hot on the floor, even it came out 8 years ago. Last year we got new remixes from a track thats even older, i'm talking about Topazz and the New Millenium, great remix here and a nice closing track.

ADE 2009: Purple Music Night Party

Hey folks!
It's only 2 days til the Party of the Year, the Purple Music Night Party in Amsterdam, hold at the Amsterdam Dance Event. I'm already really excited, soo many great DJs and producers will be there to play some funky and soulful music :)
Look out for me there, and if you go there, why not drop me a line before?

Ok, meanwhile i had some troubles with my laptop i'm using for DJing, everything is fine now again, and i've selected already many tracks for the next mixes.

Party review:
I just came back from the party and must say: THIS WAS GREAT!

The party in the main room went off when Anthony Romeno was behind the decks, after him played DJ Meme and the crowd went mad. Both played, of course, some of their tracks but this was what the people wanted.

After them the Master himself, Jamie Lewis played some great great stuff. At about 4 a.m. there were just about 100 people left and a bunch of 50 people stayed until the end with Alfredo Azzetto.

I hadn't much time to check the small room, but i guess Panevino did a good job there too. Oh yeah and the Souldynamic duo from italy was there too with some friends, thanks for the promo cd, guys ;)
Big shouts also to DJ Soulmate from Summerfondue! See you next year.
